Ronchi Di Cialla, Schioppettino Di Cialla 2016
Ronco di Cialla’s flagship red wine is the 2008 Colli Orientali del Friuli Sottozona Cialla Schioppettino di Cialla. The wine pours from the bottle with a dark garnet color and medium concentration. You’ll recognize many of those oddball aromas that are also on full display in the Ribolla Nera. Only here, those tones of black pepper and spice are more elaborate and sophisticated. Bitter fruit, sour cherry, light layers of cinnamon and dried tobacco make up the bouquet. There’s even a touch of sweetness on the close that helps broaden and flesh out this wine. It sees one year in new and neutral oak.
